Another Learning Experience

A great day for a field trip, this Saturday in early May afforded me the opportunity to reinforce our boys' lessons on the Revolutionary War general and  Valley Forge specifically.  We enjoyed our time hiking through Valley Forge National Park, viewing various monuments to our early heroes and helping the boys understand the privation and suffering our soldiers went through there.  Of course, what young boy does not like the chance to see cannons up close and climb on them.  George Washington's headquarters also provided an opportunity for exploration.  We enjoyed our time there, but the boys were plumb tuckered out by the time we returned to Lancaster where we had a motel.

Cherry Blossom Festival 2014

The beginning to a busy spring, this visit to Washington, D.C. was a wonderful time of relaxation and enjoyment of the beauty of spring in D.C.  Tess got a welcome break from her studies in nursing while the boys and I took the opportunity to enjoy some time away from the books as well.  It was a beautiful, warm spring day which we really enjoyed after a relatively cold winter.  Strolling around the Tidal Basin provided excellent exercise as well as a gorgeous view of the cherry blossoms.  This was the first of three great visits to enjoy the beauty of God's creation this spring along with a little history as well.
