On a recent Saturday evening we took a drive just to get away from home (my wife is a stay-at-home mom---literally) and ended up in North Beach, MD by the Chesapeake Bay. It was a gorgeous evening, and a fun time was had by all. The boys got to play for a short time in the water, and we all had a nice stroll on the boardwalk. A recent Sunday stroll through Old Town Alexandria produced these photos. It was one of the few sunny days we had during the last month, so we decided to take advantage of it. Old Town is always an enjoyable place to walk, observing people, window shopping and just getting down by the water when we get to the harbor. Although I had to do some carrying of the boys on my shoulders on the way back to the car, they did extremely well, walking most of the way and giving Daddy's shoulders a little rest. This was one of the nicer days in many a day this June. We were in Tinnicum, Maryland, for a craft fair and strawberry festival. The day was mostly sunny but not too hot which was a blessing. We have had an inordinate amount of rain over the last six weeks. Six weeks ago our softball season started, and we have been rained out for five of the six weeks. Unfortunately, though the skies were beautiful, people were not spending at the craft fair, probably due to the tight economy. Still it was a nice day out for the family. the boys got to play for as long as they wished in the Moon Bounce and then found a number of other ways to amuse themselves. My wife just enjoyed getting away from home for a little bit. For more sky photos visit Skywatch Friday.

Fun in the pool on a hot summer day! The boys immensely enjoy cooling off in the water. This was taken in 2008. So far this summer the weather here has not been that hot. Those days will come, I am sure. For those of you who have left comments, I apologize for not reciprocating, but the end of the school year this year was very hectic and demanding. Finally I have some free time before going back to teach summer school. This was one of those relaxing summer days last summer that I look forward to repeating this summer. This was fireworks several years ago on the Fourth of July. We went to see these at a church about twenty miles from home. It was a beautiful evening despite the fact that these fireworks did not measure up to those we had seen in Washington, D.C. a year earlier. The funny thing about this evening was that despite the loud noise, my two-year-old son slept soundly right through the whole display. For more pictures of the sky visit Skywatch Friday.
